Insurance/Legal Coverage:
CTANC provides a quality insurance package which offers broad, well-constructed insurance on a cost-effective basis.

Professional Liability Insurance:
CTANC's insurance provides $1,000,000 professional liability insurance per member and $3,000,000 per occurrence, plus the cost of defense, investigation and legal fees arising out of a member's duties as a professional educator.

Employment Rights Insurance:
CTANC's insurance reimburses each member up to $5,000 in attorney fees for the defense of employment rights. Of this amount $1,000 is provided for the initial attorney consultation fee to determine the proper disposition of the problem without regard to the final outcome. Civil rights cases not included in the liability coverage are reimbursed up to $5,000 regardless of the outcome. CTA's coverage for criminal proceedings and/or sexual misconduct provides up to $5,000 per claim per insured limited to $10,000 aggregate per policy year.

A Local Attorney:
CTANC retains local attorney, Joseph L. Ledford, to handle legal issues pertinent to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, North Carolina school districts and CTA members. Any member requiring legal advice has access to our attorney upon reccomendation by CTANC's president.

A Legislative Voice:
Local Representation - CTANC represents its members before elected bodies on educational issues pertinent to North Carolina school districts.

State-Wide Representation - CTANC retains a professional lobbyist who aggressively campaigns for the concerns and welfare of CTA members at the state level. CTA monitors all legislative and DPI activities to insure that the best interests of teachers and students are represented.

Communications:
Newsletter - CTANC publishes newsletters with information on current CMS issues, State issues, professional topics, and news of the association and its members. The most recent legislative updates and news from CMS and other districts serve as a vital communication link between members and policy makers.

Interactive Website - CTANC maintains an interactive website to provide teachers with a timely and secure way to communicate their concerns and to interact with colleagues. www.ctanc.net
Meetings - CTA provides opportunities to allow members to speak out in a protected environment. Regular board meetings are open to members.
